SCC Presents Farmer Jason

Farmer Jason will be performing at SCC on Saturday, May 4. Jason Ringenberg, formerly of the punk rock band, Jason and the Scorchers, is an Emmy Award winning children's musician. His music has been featured on NPT and PBS and is a mixture of folk, country, rock-n-roll with a dash of punk rock thrown in.

The concert will be held at Craven's Hall in Sewanee. There will also be carnival games, prizes, food and face painting to enjoy. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children. Carnival begins at 12 and the concert starts at 1:30.

SCC Yard Sale

For the second year in a row, the Sewanee Children's Center will participate in the Sewanee Community Yard Sale. The sale will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 8 am-1 pm at Upper Craven's Hall.

SCC is currently accepting donations for the sale. Donations can include, gently used clothes (adult and children's sizes), furniture in good condition, toys, shoes, household goods, camping and sporting equipment. Anything that is in good condition is appreciated!

Scholastic Book Fair and St. Jude Trike-a-Thon

This week, SCC is hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair will be here until Friday, April 12. Please come by and browse the great selection of books! 

The annual St. Jude Trike-a-thon is Thursday, April 18. The daily operating costs for St. Jude is one million dollars. The parents and children of SCC work diligently to raise funds for this organization while learning about the importance of bike safety. Please consider a donation to this wonderful organization.

Now Registering for Summer Program and 2013-2014 School Year

The Sewanee Children's Center will offer 1/2 day and full day (8am-5pm) weekly summer experiences beginning June 3 and running through August 2. Accepted ages are 18 months to 8 years of age. A discount will be offered if you participate in 4 or more weeks.

In addition to the Summer Program, we are now registering children for the 2013-2014 school year. This program begins August 12th. 

The Sewanee Children's Center teaching staff draw from developmentally appropriate preschool pedagogies such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori and Waldorf to provide a high quality and child-centered, fun infused approach to learning. While awaiting the renovation of our long time home at Otey Parish, the Children's Center is currently located in Lower Craven's Hall on Kentucky Avenue in Sewanee.

SCC Open House

Please join us for our annual Open House, Thursday March 21st at 6 PM. We will register children for the Summer Program as well as the 2013-2014 school year. 

This will be an opportunity to visit each classroom to see what the children have been working on and get to know the teachers and ask any questions you may have. Hope to see you there!
